The Steepest Street In The World Is In Pennsylvania— It’ll Make You Sweat

Pittsburgh is famous for its hilly terrain and steep roads, but few come close to paralleling Canton Avenue in Beechview, just southwest of downtown. The road is at an unbelievable 37 degree slope, making it terrifying to drive on in inclement weather… Or maybe just at all times. Oh, and in case that isn’t enough, it’s also paved in cobblestones.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now: https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/nominate/

Check out this video to see for yourself what it’s like to drive up Canton Avenue…

Or to bike up it during the Dirty Dozen! The atmosphere is festive, at least, although I can’t say I’ll be rushing to join in on the race myself…

Have you ever driven up this precarious slope? Think you know of a steeper hill?
