PA’s charming Kennett Square, of course, sports the title of “The Mushroom Capital of the World.” And, it’s a title the town doesn’t take lightly. Townspeople, for example, gather around to watch a mushroom drop every New Year’s Eve. Discover perhaps the most whimsical store in Pennsylvania – an ode to the mushroom.
The Mushroom Cap, nestled in the Mushroom Capital of the World, draws mushroom lovers and shoppers with its whimsical shop and museum.
Founded by owner Kathi Lafferty in 2004, the Mushroom Cap promises shoppers the best and the freshest mushrooms in the region. But, that's certainly not all.
You'll find an assortment of foods and snacks starring the mushroom. Popular products include pickled mushrooms, marinated mushrooms, and mushrooms stuffed with olives.
The Mushroom Cap offers just about everything you need to make a delicious mushroom dish. Pick up a mushroom recipe book or a book on the history of the famous fungus.
The whimsical shop also sells plenty of unique gifts. A wooden mushroom puzzle (pictured below) just might be the perfect gift for the puzzle fan in your life.
Stop in the back of the Mushroom Cap to admire the Mushroom Exhibit. The exhibit tells the story of the history of the mushroom through artifacts, photographs, and a video.
The Mushroom Cap welcomes visitors Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and until 8 p.m. on the first Friday of the month. Weekend hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
