This Incredible Kite Festival In Pennsylvania Is A Must-See
Go fly a kite to celebrate National Kite Month this April. But, first make your own kite. Watch kite demonstrations by kiting professionals. And, soak up the excitement of the kids and adults who have made this epic kite festival in Pennsylvania an annual tradition.
End National Kite Month on a high note by attending the annual Go Fly A Kite! Day, a spectacular kite festival hosted by the Berks County Parks and Recreation Department.
This year's celebration partners with the Berks County YMCA's Annual Healthy Kids Day, promising a day of non-stop fun and excitement for the whole family.
Bring your favorite kite then watch the kids make their very own kites at the Sled Kite Workshop. They can then enter their kites into the Sled Kite Contest. Kite flying winners will win prizes.
Relive the days of childhood by making your own newspaper (only newspaper is allowed) kite then entering it in the Newspaper Kite Division. Fly your kite for the judges starting at 2:30 p.m.
Watch as professional kiters fly their homemade kites high in the air, competing in such categories as flat/bowed/delta kites and soft/semi-rigged kites.
The festival also features a variety of family-friendly activities, including an appearance by a screech owl from Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, professional kite demos, hot air balloon demos, a home run derby, and arts and crafts.
