Take An Unforgettable Drive To The Top Of Pennsylvania’s Highest Mountain
We have so many ways to drink in the simply sensational views of the landscape, and a visit to the top of Pennsylvania’s highest mountain is sure to take your breath way. It’s an ideal destination if you’re up for a laidback adventure and is definitely one for the bucket list.
Nestled in the 581-acre Mt. Davis Natural Area, the summit of Mt. Davis earns the status of the highest point in Pennsylvania, measuring 3,213 feet above sea level.
Mt. Davis itself is part of Forbes State Forest. If you have the time, definitely plan to explore some of the forest too.
Follow the road signage along Mount Davis Road, which will lead you to the parking lot for the summit of the mountain. The parking lot is a short walk to the fire tower, from which you can really drink in the views from the highest point in Pennsylvania.
Don't let that deter you, though, from visiting in each season. The landscape is absolutely spellbinding whether it's a colorful autumn afternoon, a snowy winter day, or a sunny spring or summer day.
Bring a picnic along, too, if you have the time. You can find the picnic area about a mile from Mt. Davis. (It sits along Mt. Davis Road, too, and is easy to spot.)
