It is, in fact, the largest area in Pennsylvania without roads. You can't explore the vast, wild area in a car as motor vehicles are prohibited, but you can set off on an invigorating hike.

At nearly eight miles, the Twin Sisters Trail is rated moderate but usually is not very busy, promising all the peace and quiet you could want.

However, make sure you bring plenty of bottled water and snacks, and be prepared to deal with spotty cell phone service.

The Twin Sisters Trail meanders through pristine forested area, past meadows, and to scenic vistas. Among the trees you'll spot include maple, birch, and beech.

Dogs are also allowed on the trail. Just keep your pooch on his leash, and make sure you clean up after him.
