The Deserted Hospital In Pennsylvania That’s Eerily Post-Apocalyptic

The Monsour Medical Center and Jeannette District Memorial Hospital in Jeanette, Pennsylvania was once an important center of medicine. After its abandonment, conditions in the center quickly began to go from sterile to totally creepy. These haunting pictures by photographer Johnny Joo show just how eerie the complex became after the last doctors left.

This place looks like it was evacuated after an apocalyptic disaster.

Built in 1952, the hospital once served hundreds of patients.

It was abandoned in 2007 after multiple bankruptcies.

In 2011, the deserted waiting room on the fifth floor mysteriously burst into flames.

Despite the inferno, much of the hospital remained completely untouched.

Rooms were still fully outfitted, as if patients might return at any time.

Birth records and certificates were left behind.

X-rays and test results were left still sitting in lightboxes or in drawers.

It makes you wonder how many people have unsecured medical records sitting in abandoned hospitals across the country.

This place would have been the perfect setting for a horror film.

The 10-story tower was partially open to the elements due to shattered windows that sent moldering curtains fluttering.

It's hard to imagine how much life and death this abandoned structure has seen.
