Pennsylvania Has Its Very Own German Christmas Market And You’ll Want To Visit
Feel as though you’ve journeyed to the heart of Germany when you visit Mifflinburg this holiday season. Stroll from hut to hut, each occupied by a different vendor. Indulge in authentic German food. Or buy unique, handmade holiday gifts. Join in a full menu of activities when you visit the charming town that hosts Christkindl Market, a magical German Christmas market, each December.
The Christkindl Market, which spans two and a half blocks, has been a treasured tradition in Mifflinburg for 29 years.
The three-day festival is an ode to German heritage and the tradition of the German Christmas market.
Explore the more than 100 huts that house an assortment of vendors that occupy two and a half blocks. Vendors include Sand Castle Winery, Bower Glassworks, and Two Mules Soap.
Of course, you'll also want to try the scrumptious German food from such vendors as Blyler's Foods, Gable House Bakery, and Chilly Willy's.
Listen for the church bells ringing on December 14 at 5 p.m. signaling the official start of the annual Christmas market.
The annual tradition also features a full schedule of events —
live entertainment and Christmas carols, for example.
Join the kids at the Kinder World that's jam-packed with activities. Mrs. Claus and the elves join the children to make crafts and play games before earning an Elf School diploma.
Take in a marionette show at the stage right across from Kinder World. And, check out the Gingerbread Peek-A-Boo House, the Gingerbread Creations Hut, and the Doll House.
The Christkindl Market of Mifflinburg is slated for December 14 to 16, 2017. Hours run Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
