What are the most popular places to stay in Pennsylvania that aren’t chain hotels?
If you’re the kind of person who appreciates the small-town mom-and-pop types of places to stay at instead of hotel chains, you’re in luck: Pennsylvania is home to plenty of absolutely amazing little places to get away from it all without getting away from everything. Some of our favorites include the delightful and world-famous Leamans Country Lodge, which can be found in Bird in Hand. This little Amish country guesthouse will help you appreciate life in a whole new way. We also love Ellwood City and a lot of the beds and breakfasts you can find there, like Chapel Valley Estate. It’s a beautiful, restored farmhouse bed and breakfast with a very homey feel and plenty of warm, friendly folks to welcome you. We also love Fox Castle Bed and Breakfast, in Connellsville, which is an amazing Victorian home converted to an inn, and The Inn at Ragged Edge in Chambersburg is another place to add to your bucket list if you like the Victorian vibe of Fox Castle.
What are some of the best getaway spots in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania is a state that is tragically underrated when it comes to getaways if you ask us. We have several favorite spots to run off to when you want to forget life for a while; one of those is the little town known as Foxburg, which is situated right on the scenic Allegheny River and offers up amazing water views and all the small-town charm you could ever ask for. We also love the odd little town of Jim Thorpe, which is Pennsylvania’s “Little Switzerland” and offers up plenty of cultural significance and plenty of things to do. Then, there’s Wellsboro, a small town that still has gas street lamps and PLENTY of access to numerous state parks in the area. Need more ideas? Check this article out for plenty more information on great small towns in Pennsylvania to run away to.
