Pennsylvania Has Some Of The Best Drivers In The United States, According To A New Study
We’ve all, undoubtedly, driven on the turnpike and have been stuck in traffic in big cities and in small towns all over PA. In fact, it’s probably safe to say we’ve all seen our fair share of pretty lousy drivers, but we’re better than most in the United States. Give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back, Pennsylvanians. Drivers in Pennsylvania are some of the best in the United States, coming in third in a recent study.
Pennsylvania has come in third place in a nationwide study, conducted by law firm Friend, Levinson & Turner. Results of the study, which uses data from 2020, were released in April of this year.
The study, which also determined the states with the worst drivers in the U.S., took several factors into consideration when evaluating drivers, including the number of uninsured drivers in the state.
It tallied the number of DUI arrests and the number of deaths as a result of accidents per 100,000 drivers. The study also investigated how many times internet users searched Google for terms related to getting out of a ticket.
Pennsylvania came in third with 117 DUI arrests per capita and 10 fatalities as a result of collisions per capita. Uninsured drivers came to just 7.6 percent of the population.
The three worst states for driving in the U.S., according to the study’s results, are New Mexico (first) and Arkansas and Alabama tied for second. DUI arrests per capita totaled 248 for New Mexico, and it tallied 25 collision fatalities.
