Oregonians look forward to Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm’s festival all year long, and we were certainly planning to attend. Unfortunately, the farm has cancelled its festival due to COVID-19 this year. They’re doing their part to keep everyone safe and healthy, but they still have fields of tulips in bloom right now. So, what to do with all those beautiful blooms? Keep reading for a heart-warming story:
If you've lived in Oregon for very long, you know all about the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm's annual festival. There's nothing in the world as wonderful as wandering through the rows and rows of brilliant blooms.
For just $15, you can donate a pot of tulips to a senior. The farm has also donated many pots of flowers.
On March 31, Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm donated and delivered potted tulips to Silver Creek Senior Living Center, brightening the day for many of the folks who live there.
As of April 1st, the farm has delivered hundreds of tulips to at least 10 different senior living centers! More than 2,300 pots of daffodils and tulips have been sold thus far.
Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm is a treasured gem in our community. The actions of its staff and owners reminds us that Oregonians are wonderful people, and that we'll all get through this tough time if we just support and look out for each other.
We have to admit that we love Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm even just a little bit more since learning about this! Support the farm if you can during this time. Visit its website, and if you want to see more photos of gorgeous tulips, follow its Facebook page.
We’re also dedicated to helping local small businesses right now in any way we can. If you have a favorite restaurant or shop, please nominate them for a feature article by filling out our nomination form. The business doesn’t have to be currently open to be featured – we’ll write about it in hopes that Oregonians will be ready to shop and dine there as soon as it’s safe to do so!
