Located west of Eugene, the Whittaker Creek Recreation Site is a little-known nature area that’s full of serene, breathtaking scenery. This gorgeous hidden gem is a delightful place for hiking, picnicking, swimming, camping, fishing, and more.
Nestled into the forest where the Suislaw River meets Whittaker Creek, Whittaker Creek Recreation Site is a beautiful hidden gem in Lane County.

In this woodsy, tranquil setting, you'll find opportunities for all kinds of outdoor activities as well as simply relaxing and taking in the enchanting scenery.
One great way to experience the beauty of the area is taking a hike on the Old Growth Ridge Trail. This amazing 3-mile National Recreation Trail loops through lush, ancient scenery and is full of breathtaking views.
The area is home to diverse flora and fauna including Douglas fir trees, rhododendrons, northern spotted owls, deer, elk, and more.
There's a beach where you can swim in the summertime, as well as a playground, a wildlife viewing area, picnic area, a horseshoes pit, and more.
If you feel like staying overnight, you can book a campsite at the lovely Whittaker Creek Campground. Camping costs $10 per night. Day use, on the other hand, is totally free.
