This stunning hidden gem is located south of The Dalles in the little-known White River Falls State Park.
At the end of an easy half-mile trail starting at the parking area, you'll find a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the falls. It's a perfect spot for relaxing, taking pictures, or picnicking!
This dramatic, tiered waterfall cascades a total of 90 feet. You can make your way down to the base of the falls to see it up close and do a bit of exploring.
There are some great little beaches along the river where you can kick back and relax. On a hot day, you can even wade into the gorgeous basin of the falls.
If you walk a little ways along the river you'll find an extraordinary abandoned hydropower plant that used to create energy for the area between 1910 and 1960.
White River Falls State Park is located just off of Sherars Bridge Highway 216 in Maupin. The waterfall is located at the end of a short, marked trail beginning at the parking area.
