We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now:
10. Elowah Falls, 1.5 miles
This lovely 1.5 mile trail in the Columbia River Gorge leads to this amazing hidden gem. Elowah Falls is a magical 289-foot waterfall that pours gracefully into a misty basalt-rimmed basin.
9. Eagle Creek Trail to Tunnel Falls, 12 miles
The legendary Eagle Creek Trail passes by numerous gorgeous waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge including Punchbowl Falls, Metlako Falls, and more. There are multiple options for out-and-back hikes on this trail, but my favorite is the 12-mile (round trip) trek to (and behind) the gorgeous Tunnel Falls (pictured above).
8. Ramona Falls, 7 miles
A lovely 7-mile jaunt through the Mt Hood National Forest will lead you to this wondrous 120-foot waterfall.
7. Sahalie and Koosah Falls Hike, 2.6 miles
Located on the McKenzie River, this gorgeous loop hike starts at the magnificent Sahalie Falls and passes through a lush forest past the equally impressive Koosah Falls.
6. Trail Of Ten Falls, 10 miles
This epic waterfall trail in the Silver Falls State Park is breathtakingly beautiful from start to finish. The trail winds through incredible forests past 10 magical waterfalls. One amazing bonus is that the trail actually goes behind four the waterfalls, giving hikers a unique, up-close view of the cascading water.
5. White River Falls, 1 mile
Located in the remote, little-known White River Falls State Park in north central Oregon, this lovely 1 mile hike leads visitors to the park's namesake: the magnificent White River Falls. There's also a great little access point at the bottom of the falls where you can take a dip or enjoy a picnic.
4. Drift Creek Falls, 3 miles
Located in the Siuslaw National Forest, this beautiful trail will take you on an unforgettable adventure that includes strolling through a stunning coastal forest and walking across an incredible suspension bridge over Drift Creek Canyon and the breathtaking Drift Creek Falls.
3. Toketee Falls, 0.8 miles
This gorgeous waterfall in southern Oregon cascades gracefully into a sapphire-blue basin. A short, easy hike through the woods leads visitors to this enchanting spot. When you're finished viewing Toketee Falls, I'd recommend continuing on for another .8 miles to the nearby Watson Falls.
2. Tumalo Falls and Double Falls Hike, 2 miles
Located near Bend, this jaw-dropping waterfall can be seen from a viewpoint just steps from the parking lot. This viewpoint is also the trailhead of an incredible 2-mile out-and-back hike that leads past the beautiful Tumalo Falls to the little-known Double Falls and Upper Falls.
1. Multnomah - Wahkeena Hike, 5 miles
Starting at the dazzling, iconic Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge, this amazing trail winds through the lush forest past numerous viewpoints and waterfalls including Wahkeena Falls, Fairy Falls, Ecola Falls, Weisendanger Falls, and more.
