9 Undeniable Habits That No Oregonian Can Ever Unlearn
Life in the Beaver State is truly unlike anywhere else. Perhaps this is why us Oregonians are such a quirky bunch. From our friendly driving style to our obsession with the great outdoors, there are plenty of habits that set us apart from the rest of the country. Here are nine undeniable habits that most Oregonians share. See how many you agree with:
1. Bringing a sweater to the Oregon Coast — no matter what time of year it is.
While most people expect sunshine and tan lines from their beach vacations, Oregonians do things a bit differently. We pack sweaters, raincoats, and mittens for our trips to the notoriously chilly Oregon Coast.
2. Always stocking the fridge with local beer.
Can you blame us? With hundreds of Oregon-produced craft beers around, we're spoiled with mouthwatering choices.
3. Fitting ski and surf trips into the same weekend.
Oregon is truly an outdoor lover's paradise. You've got the sea, mountains, rivers, and more all within a few hours drive of each other.
4. Not getting out of our car at the gas station.
Here in Oregon, pumping your own gas is a job left to professionals. Whether we're just across the border in Washington or across the country, trips to the gas station are always an adventure.
5. Eating ice cream all year round.
No matter how cold it gets, we just can't say no to ice cream. Maybe it's because we're blessed with so many delicious local options (hello Tillamook, Umpqua, and Salt & Straw).
6. Gagging a little when someone pronounces it "Ore-gone."
We can't help it! Hearing someone mispronounce our state's name is super cringe-worthy.
6. Never failing to appreciate nature.
Yes, Oregonians are a bit obsessed with nature. From waterfalls to lush forests and majestic mountains, we're seriously lucky to be surrounded by so much breathtaking natural beauty.
8. Being a polite driver.
Sometimes we're a little too polite (we've been voted the nation's most courteous drivers in numerous surveys), but at least we have good manners on the road.
9. Always ready for the next adventure.
Oregonians may be a diverse bunch of people, but one thing that draws us together is that we never stop exploring. We're never far from a great adventure.
