Chances are, you’ve heard about the Great American Eclipse making its way to Oregon in August. For anyone who’d like a brief overview of this once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon, you can read our previous article on the subject here. With the event just a few weeks away, we’re planning the best ways to experience the eclipse. If you’ve yet to make plans, you may want to consider this incredible contest hosted by AirBnB. The winner will spend the night in a transparent hotel, among other extraordinary perks that will make their eclipse viewing nothing short of epic.
Let’s take a look:
On Monday, August 21st, the U.S. will bear witness to a rare natural phenomenon: the Great American Eclipse.
While this moment will certainly be memorable no matter where your vantage point may be, a recent announcement by AirBnB will allow two lucky viewers the spectacle of a lifetime.
Together with National Geographic, AirBnB is hosting a "Night At" contest, which will allow two lucky winners to experience the phenomenon in the most epic way possible: a custom designed transparent tent in Bend.
The AirBnB hosts will be two National Geographic associates, an astrophysicist named Dr. Jedidah Isler and a science journalist named Babak Tafreshi. After a night of gorgeous stargazing from this structure, complete with two telescopes and an observation deck, the winners will enjoy a private flight for the actual eclipse viewing.

This two-hour flight will begin over the Pacific Ocean and follow the flight of the eclipse as it prepares to pass its shadow over the U.S.
This unique viewpoint will extend the viewing time, which is normally just under two minutes, by a whole minute. Can you imagine a more magical experience?
