Sea Cave In Oregon

What are some other things to do in Florence, Oregon?

Florence truly is one of Oregon’s best-kept secrets. This tiny coastal town has it all: incredible outdoor recreation: gorgeous beaches and state parks, must-visit attractions, a charming and historic downtown, and some of the best regional cuisine. In addition to the epic Sea Caves, Florence is home to the Hecta Head Lighthouse, one of the most photographed on the coast and a must-visit. In terms of outdoor recreation, the shady “Hobbit Trail” near Florence takes you through an enchanted forest to a beautiful, secluded beach. It’s truly one of the state’s most splendid hidden gems. And if you like to eat, Florence’s historic district has some of the very best restaurants in the state, including Mo’s, where you’ll find the best clam chowder in the PNW! And Waterfront Depot’s burgers are rumored to be the best in town, and maybe even the state. This unassuming restaurant also has some of the most picturesque panoramas of the Siuslaw River and the Historic Siuslaw River Bridge.

Does Oregon have any other unique caves?

Oregon’s unique geography and topography make our state particularly noteworthy in the “unique caves” department. In Lake County, Crack in the Ground, while technically a volcanic fissure, lives up to its name: it’s basically a gigantic crack that’s more than two miles long and 70 feet wide. Skylight Cave is perhaps the most Insta-worthy; located near Sisters, this lava tube can be found at Deschutes National Forest, and offers a truly magical caving experience.

What’s the most famous cave in Oregon?

That would probably be Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve, way underneath the depths of the Siskiyou Mountains, these caves formed when rainwater dissolved the surrounding marble and fashioned a cavernous marble underground system –15,000 feet of passageways, in fact. There are several interconnected caverns here, including Soda Straw Column Caves, Joaquin Miller’s Chapel Oregon Cave, and the Marble Halls. It’s an incredible natural wonder worth exploring.
