I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
When you’re looking to get away from it all here in Oregon, what do you look for? Someplace remote, surrounded by trees? A place near the water, where you can fall asleep to the sonorous soundtrack of trickling streams and gentle breezes? A well-appointed cabin that feels both rustic yet well-appointed? Well, we’ve found a waterfront resort in Oregon that checks off all those boxes — and more — all but guaranteeing a perfect, peaceful, and relaxing escape.
The Metolius River is a tributary of the Deschutes River in Central Oregon. It's a mighty, majestic river, that features gushing blue waters, babbling springs, and beautiful scenery.
And in the heart of this glorious naturescape, the Metolius River Resort offers all the luxury of a boutique hotel, with the peace and privacy that you can only find in the Oregon wilderness.
Nestled among the ponderosa pines and aspens are eleven architecturally award-winning cabins, each well-appointed with modern amenities and rustic features.
Outside, the Metolius is best-known for fishing: rainbow trout, bull trout, brown trout, brook trout, kokanee, and mountain whitefish are all found in its cold waters.
For those up for a bit of waterfall chasing, an easy family-friendly 2.6-mile loop trail connects Koosah and Sahalie Falls. The hike borders the McKenzie River through towering forest, and is a great day trek in the area!
Though, with views like these, we wouldn't blame you for relaxing on your deck, nestled in a comfy Adirondack chair, and whiling away the day while gazing out at the majestic Metolius.
No matter how you choose to spend your time at this river resort, you're all but guaranteed a wondrous experience reconnecting with the wild and wonderful natural world of Oregon.
