Go On A Prehistoric Adventure At This New Exhibit At The Oregon Coast Aquarium
The Oregon Coast Aquarium is a perennial Beaver State favorite. It’s long been a place for Magic School Bus-level field trips and memorable day trip adventures in Oregon. The aquarium has over 15,000 animals, with numerous exhibits and interactive areas in its 23-acre facility. Recently, this destination added yet another reason to visit, with its incredible new prehistoric exhibit, Cruisin’ the Fossil Coastline. Open now through March 3, 2022, this is one prehistoric adventure in Oregon you definitely need to do!
Located on the Yaquina Bay, the Oregon Coast Aquarium opened in 1992 and has been a Beaver State favorite ever since.
The Aquarium’s newest exhibit, Cruisin’ the Fossil Coastline, takes guests on a journey through Earth’s immense geological record, introducing them to species and environments that existed millions of years ago.
This all-ages exhibit has it all: life-size sculptures, models, images of prehistoric creatures, and real, live fossils. The exhibit also features paintings, hand-drawn maps, and light and audio installations by acclaimed artist Ray Troll.
Kids will delight as they compare their shoe size with that of a gastornis, examine the teeth of a desmostylia, and see eye-to-eye with a life-size model of a pachyrhinosaurus.
Footage highlighting the epic expeditions of Ray Troll and Dr. Kirk Johnson, a renowned paleontologist, can be viewed in the theater, too. The duo logged more than 250 days of travel, covering more than 10,000 miles in search of fossils from Baja California to northern Alaska, and the footage is incredible!
The Oregon Coast Aquarium is known for its extraordinary, immersive exhibitions. But the new Cruisin’ the Fossil Coastline exhibit might just be its most epic experience ever.
Tickets can be purchased on-site or in advance via aquarium.org.
