You don’t have to travel far from Portland to find waterfalls and camping. Our beautiful state is rich in waterfalls, and this campground near the city is the perfect place to get away from it all. Head east on the I-84 to Ainsworth State Park in Cascade Locks for a top-notch camping destination neighboring the city and spend some time enjoying the lovely waterfalls there.

True to Northwest campgrounds, Ainsworth State Park is situated in a forest setting, allowing for plenty of privacy throughout its 180-acre site.

Campsites are generously sized and allow you plenty of quiet time in nature.

All around there are opportunities for hiking and communing with nature in this idyllic setting.

A modern campground, Ainsworth State Park has both tent and RV camping spots available.

The best part about staying at Ainsworth State Park is that it is less than a mile from the Triple Falls Trail Head.

You pass through an old tunnel carved out of the rock to get started.

And then settle in for a difficult hike that will lead you through beautiful scenery.

The canopy of trees and and serene setting next to the river makes the hike peaceful and cool.

After the work of hiking, you will arrive at Triple Falls, a glorious sight to behold.

Also nearby is Horsetail Falls, reachable by a short hike.
