This Charming Town Near Portland Is Perfect For A Summer Day Trip
Getting out of the city is a must, especially in summer when temperatures rise and an influx of tourists makes everywhere seem crowded. There is no better time to head south to McMinnville for a summer day trip visiting wineries and exploring the small, quaint town that is a far cry from city life.

You only have to travel about an hour before you enter wine country and all its beauty. With over 200 wineries in the vicinity, this is pure excitement for wine lovers.

Arrive in the small town of McMinnville and have a lovely lunch on the main street. Stroll through the historic old town, and take a walk back in time.

Don't forget to stop in for some old-fashioned ice cream at the local parlor.

Take off from downtown into the scenic vineyards nearby. Explore the local tasting rooms and vineyards in the city.

Or head out a little further to the neighboring Eola Hills for even more wineries to explore.

Enjoy the drive and scenery and you explore McMinnville and neighboring Yamhill, pictured here.

Enjoy a tasting at a few different wineries to get a feel for your favorites.

To get out of the heat, take a trip to McMinnville's Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum or the adjoining Wings and Waves waterpark.

Stay the night at the local McMenamins in the heart of it all right on the bustling main street in downtown McMinnville.

Be sure to stay until dusk so you don't miss the sunset. The stunning colors over the vineyards is a spectacular sight and the perfect cap to a wonderful day trip from Portland.
