12 Things Every Portlander Wants The Rest Of The Country To Know
Portland is pretty great. Those of us who are lucky enough to live here know how lovely it really is, but often people from outside have some preconceived notions of the place we call home. Skip what you saw on Portlandia or from your friend who visited once. Here are 12 things that Portlanders want the rest of the country to know about the City of Roses.

We love the beauty of our city and its green spaces and work to keep them looking great.

Farmers markets are big, but even grocery stores stock local brands because there is a market for it.

Whether you are eating pho, pizza or burgers, great food is just how we do it in Portland.

Even if you don't want to go sit down at a restaurant, there are great street food options everywhere.

Yeah, other places may be fine with one or two inches of snow, but we just call it a day and stay home.

Sandy, Salmon, Tualatin, Clackamas, Willamette, and Columbia are just some of the rivers in and around Portland that are beautiful.

It takes just a short drive to be in the middle of farmland or wine country, and it is so lovely and beautiful.

There are so many ways to look at the bridges, rivers, and Mt Hood to stay entertained for some time.

We have a treasure trove of waterfalls and waterfall hikes just to the east of the city that are just waiting to be gazed and tread upon.

Yeah, other places have microbreweries, but Portland feels like a micro brewing epicenter with 58 breweries in the city and 84 in the metro area.

Portland gets a bad reputation for being a rainy, dreary place. That is true for several months of the year, but we live for the summer, which has blue skies galore and the sun shines bright. We don't even rank in the top 10 for wettest cities in the US.

There are lots of cities, but Portland is so photogenic. The waterfront is incredible and always worth a visit.
