I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
There’s an embarrassment of riches when it comes to outdoor recreation here in Oregon. Between our incredible wonders, diverse geography, mild weather, and immense natural splendor, Oregon is the poster child for Mother Nature. As a result, the outdoor recreation in Oregon is world famous, and today we’re taking a look at just why the Beaver State has earned this rugged and resplendent reputation.
Oregon is known for many things -- its wineries and PNW cuisine, Old West legacy and pioneer spirit, pop culture ties and delightfully weird vibes. But what is the Beaver State best-known for? That's easy: outdoor recreation.
The reasons for this are numerous. For starters, Oregon is home to some of the most extraordinary natural wonders in the world, from the mighty Multnomah Falls (in the equally majestic Columbia River Gorge)...
What's more, Oregon's cities and towns are all well-situated to stoke this sense of adventure, from majestic Mount Hood in the Portland skyline to the dazzling Deschutes River that bisects downtown Bend.
And speaking of water, we'd be remiss not to mention the Oregon Coast. With 360 miles of coastline, Oregon has some seriously beautiful beaches. All are free and open to the public, and many are dog friendly, too, making your outdoor adventures all the more fun!
But Oregon *also* has an incredibly varied geography, with everything from temperate rainforests and dry deserts to high-elevation peaks, so if you want to ski in Oregon, you can ski! And if you want to go climbing in the desert, you can do that, too.
Oregon is a natural beauty, with some of the most resplendent natural wonders in the world. The state is home to endless majestic mountains, piercing blue lakes, wondrous waterfalls, stunning beaches, and lush, and straight-from-a-fairytale forests, making it an absolute paradise for nature enthusiasts.
Whether you choose to hike, visit a garden or park, explore an underground cave, or climb a mountain, Oregon has some of the best outdoor recreation in the country.
