Do you ever dream of getting off the grid and simply relaxing in a beautiful, secluded area untouched by the hustle and bustle of modern-day life? Tucked away in the lovely Mt Hood National Forest, Olallie Lake Resort is a unique, rustic cabin resort and a perfect place to escape into nature for a peaceful getaway. Check it out:
Located deep in the Mt Hood National Forest at an altitude of 5,000 feet, Olallie Lake Resort is a one-of-a-kind getaway destination that hasn't changed much since the day it opened in 1933.
This beautiful resort is perched on the edge of the remote Olallie Lake, a crystal clear body of water that perfectly reflects the majestic peak of Mt Jefferson.
There are 10 lovely cabins and 2 yurts available for overnight stays. These accommodations are simple and rustic, stocked with kerosene lanterns, wood stoves, and more. There's no electricity, cell service, potable water, etc. It's truly a place to get off the grid and enjoy some peace and quiet.
Stocked with rainbow and brood trout, the lake is a perfect place for fishing or simply floating on the lake's calm waters in a boat. If you don't have your own, no worries -- a small marina rents out paddle boats and row boats and sells fishing gear as well as fishing day permits. There's also a charming, old-fashioned general store where you can stock up on some necessities.
The area is also a fantastic place for hiking. It's located just off the legendary Pacific Crest Trail, and is close to numerous gorgeous hikes that lead all over the area (and to even more remote alpine lakes). If you stop into the general store, you can pick up a hiking map with more information.
If you don't want to rent a cabin or yurt, you can also book one of the campsites along Olallie Lake. These lovely yet primitive campsites have picnic tables, fire rings, and (often) great views.
Oallie Lake Resort is located in the Mt Hood National Forest at FR-4220, Mount Hood, Oregon. The coordinates are 44.81389, -121.79028, 44°48’50″N, 121°47’25″W. Be aware that there are miles of gravel roads leading up to the resort, and you’ll want a full gas tank since there are no stations in the area.
