They’re All About Community At The Humble Pig Cafe In Oregon
Oregon’s small businesses are the heart and soul of our communities. We love to feature locally-owned places, and when we find a restaurant serving up incredible meals and downright delicious desserts, and reaching out to its neighbors in need we can’t pass up the opportunity to sing its praises far and wide.
If you live in the town of Molalla, you’re probably already know that The Humble Pig Cafe is a vital part of the community. If you don’t live there, it’s well worth your time to take the drive to enjoy everything this family-owned restaurant has to offer.
You'll find The Humble Pig Cafe in Molalla, and these folks are all about community.
The cafe might be tiny, but the hearts of the owners are huge. When the wildfires swept through the area in September, 2020, they immediately stepped in to help.
Sarah, Joe, and Ellen offered free breakfasts, and delivered free meals to a local church to help their neighbors in need.
The Humble Pig was the place to go for news, community, and food. The owners fed everyone, from neighbors to first responders, and kept updates on its Facebook page to let others know what resources were needed.
The residents of Molalla offered donations to the cafe to keep the free food flowing to everyone who needed it. Even when the restaurant was evacuated and closed on October 10th, the owners were determined to keep helping.
They found a spot in Portland where they could keep preparing food, and they posted a phone number on their Facebook page so that anyone in need could get a hot meal delivered.
Within a few days, they were allowed to return to Molalla..but they still didn't stop feeding the community for free. Ever resourceful, Sarah, Joe, and Ellen reached out to other local businesses and neighbors and helped organize tons of donations to pass on. They also hosted a huge hamburger cookout and a spaghetti dinner, and ultimately provided thousands of free meals during the wildfires.
It's always refreshing to find business owners who are so invested in the health and welfare of their neighbors, and did we also mention that the food here is absolutely incredible? In case you can't tell from the photos, everything here is deliciously divine, from the breakfast sandwiches to the homemade dinners to the hand-crafted pastries.
