Newburg residents were dazzled by the beauty and extravagance of the Cameo, which is a perfect example of Art Deco architecture.

Manning the Cameo's original projection booth was quite a hands-on affair. Since 1940, the Cameo has been independently owned and operated by the Francis family, who also runs the 99 W Drive-In in Newberg.

Much of the interior of Cameo Theatre looks the same as it did back in the 1930s. The original seats, decor, and lighting have all been painstakingly cared for and restored over the years.

This original lighting, for example, which was custom made in 1937, remains fully functional and intact.

Today, the theatre shows first-run flicks, as well as cult classics. The Cameo often runs films that harken back to the era of its beginnings, too.

And patrons still get dressed up to visit Cameo Theatre, albeit, a bit differently!
