Have you ever heard of Oregon’s “Exploding Whale”? It has got to be one of the most bizarre things that has ever happened in Oregon.

The story goes like this: In 1970, an 8-ton whale carcass washed ashore on a beach near Florence. No one knew what to do with the body—until someone recommended using dynamite to disintegrate it.
