This Epic 2-Mile Hike Will Take You Through A Gorgeous, Little-Known Canyon In Oregon
Located in central Oregon, Crack-in-the-Ground is pretty much exactly what its name suggests. This incredible two-mile-long canyon was formed long ago when volcanic eruptions caused the landscape to split open, forming this spectacular fissure.
Visitors can venture down into the crack and hike through narrow passages which can reach up to 70 feet tall. Spend some time exploring this unique geographical formation; this remote Oregon destination is a true hidden gem.

Beginning at the Crack-In-The-Ground trailhead, this hike will lead you through a short stretch of desert before descending into the canyon.

Once you're inside the canyon, you just may feel like you've stepped into another world. You'll want to spend some time exploring this incredible place.

You may want to bring a sweater along, as it can be quite a bit cooler at the bottom of the crack.

Cracks like these are rarely hikable because they become eroded and overgrown in most areas. The unique dryness of Oregon's high desert, however, has made it accessible for hiking and exploration.

As you continue along the trail, you may have to scramble over or around fallen rocks. In fact, parts of the canyon will be blocked entirely.

You can do the hike as an out-and-back walk through the canyon, or you can make it into a loop by hiking through the canyon in one direction and then back along the trail at the surface.

You'll be blown away by this incredible natural wonder.
