Should I go hiking in winter in Oklahoma?

There are so many great places to go hiking during winter in Oklahoma! One of our favorites is at the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Here, you’ll find the 1.2-mile The Antelope and Buffalo Springs trail. It’s the perfect length for a breezy wintertime stroll. If you loved that adventure, make sure to visit Quartz Mountain Nature Park. This place can get quite crowded during summer, but in the winter, you’ll feel like you have the entire place to yourself! Get some much-needed nature time at this peaceful and gorgeous destination. And, if you’re lucky enough to live near Oklahoma City, you can always enjoy a leisurely winter stroll around Lake Hefner. This time of year, the views are especially whimsical.

How much snowfall does Oklahoma get each year?

The state of Oklahoma typically sees about 7.6 inches of snow every year. And because the Farmers’ Almanac winter forecast for Oklahoma predicts average precipitation, we can expect about that much snowfall this year as well! It’s just enough snow to enjoy a fun day making snow angels, but not so much that we get tired of dealing with the elements.

Can I ride the Polar Express in Oklahoma?

Yes! The Oklahoma City Railway Museum hosts a Polar Express train ride every holiday season, and it’s perfect for families. Children get to meet Santa, share wish lists, and pretend they are on the Polar Express train from the storybook! It’s one of the best ways to celebrate the holidays in Oklahoma.
