With A Waterfall And Footbridges, The Little-Known Cliffside Trail In Oklahoma Is Unexpectedly Magical
If you’re looking for a short, yet magical hike in Oklahoma that’s filled with epic scenery, Cliffside Trail and the Nature Trail are great options. Both are located inside Heavener Runestone Park and offer a fairy-tail setting with a waterfall, ancient rocks with hieroglyphics, and footbridges.
Heavener Runestone Park is a 55-acre park that used to be a state park but is now run by a non-profit organization. It might be small but it is packed full of magical scenery.
During your hike, you'll also pass over footbridges and you can venture off the trail and climb on rocks. Just be careful, as some of them can be very slippery after a rainstorm.
The whole park is photo-worthy and fascinating. Part of what makes this place so fun to hike in is the different paths you'll encounter along the trails.
There's also a third trail that is interpretive. It is only 1/4 mile long and takes you to the runestone rock itself. We highly recommend you visit all the trails since they are very short so you can experience everything this place has to offer.
