In addition to the smell of ocean water in the air on rainy days in Portland, she loves puppies, photography, funny people, the Maine Red Claws, traveling, fresh tomatoes, Cambodia and filling out forms. These days we’ve been spending quite a bit of time outside. Whether it’s in our own backyard, enjoying the sights and sounds of home or getting in the car with the windows down (it totally counts!) for a scenic drive, there’s so much nature to appreciate here in Oklahoma. But, when we’re looking for a way to relieve some stress we love taking hikes. This one is easy to follow and offers some of the most peaceful views in the state.
Beavers Bend State Park, located in Broken Bow, offers plenty to do if you're looking to spend the day outside.
In addition to a learning center, there are 14 trails meandering through the area that all lead to different features. But each one is surrounded by the beauty you'd expect to find here in Oklahoma.
Along the way, you'll come in and out of the trees. If you choose to do this hike on a sunny day you'll love the moment of both sun and shade as you hike.
An out-and-back trail means when you come to the end you'll simply turn around and head back the same way you came. But we love that this trail comes to such a green river. After a rain you're likely to find it looking a bit more like a lagoon.
Once you've enjoyed this trail, consider taking some of the others. They're not all as easy as Tree Trail but they're all just as pretty and offer the same immersion into Oklahoma's outdoors!
Beavers Bend State Park is lovely and you can learn more about it by checking out alltrails.com. This is also a great way to find other hikes in the park. You can also visit the official Oklahoma Tourism website to learn more.
