Here Are 10 More Towns In Oklahoma With The Strangest Names You’ll Ever See

Oklahomans (and visitors) know the state is full of strange and interesting town names. From Slaughterville to Cookietown to Slapout, we have our fair share of unusual town names. In case you haven’t stumbled upon some of them, take a look at these 10 in the Sooner State:

1. Hooker - It's a location not a vocation, so get your mind out of the gutter. As if the town name isn't bad enough, the baseball team is called the Horny Toads.

2. Nowhere - Talk about feeling insignificant.

3. Okay - If you lived in Okay, you could say, "I am from Okay, OK and it is okay."

4. Pink - Yes, as in the color. Maybe it was the founder's favorite color?

5. Little Axe - Little axe, big axe, does it really matter?

6. Hoot Owl - With a population of four, whooooo cares what the town name is.

7. Cement - I don't think creativity was flowing the day the town was named.

8. Poteau - It's always funny to hear out-of-towners try and pronounce the word. Poteau, is actually French (not Native American) for "outpost."

9. Slick - Slick is slick.

10. Bowlegs - No, the town is not full of bow-legged residents. It was named after a Seminole Chief's daughter, Lula Bowlegs.
