Baseball legend Mickey Mantle was born on October 20, 1931, in the town of Spavinaw, Oklahoma. At the age of three, he and his family moved to Commerce where Mickey grew up until he signed as a professional baseball player right after graduation from Commerce High School. The Mantle family home still stands today and visitors can walk by this historic home, Mickey Mantle’s birthplace.

The town of Commerce, Mickey Mantle’s hometown, is home to about 2,500 residents but people travel here from all over the state to see the childhood home of one of the most famous baseball players of all time. There is also an old Route 66 Conoco Fillin’ Station that’s now a museum and gift shop that you’ll want to stop in and visit.
