The Next Lunar Eclipse Will Be Visible From Oklahoma And You Won’t Want To Miss Out
A major astronomy event is headed our way in a few weeks and you won’t want to miss out. A “super blood wolf moon” will be one of the coolest things you’ll see this year as a total lunar eclipse will be visible over Oklahoma. Keep scrolling for all the details and save the date.
It will be visible in North and South America (plus a few areas outside of this zone), including Oklahoma late in the evening on January 20. Totality will be between 10:12 p.m. - 11:12 p.m CST.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon and the sun are on exact opposite sides of Earth and a blood moon is the term for the reddish color the moon during a total lunar eclipse.
A wolf moon is another term for January's full moon and a supermoon occurs when the full moon is at the closest point of its orbit to the Earth. Combine all of these events together and you get a "super blood wolf moon."
And no need to worry about wearing glasses for this event. A solar eclipe of the moon does not harm your eyes like a solar eclipse of the sun. Just sit back and enjoy the front row seat from anywhere in Oklahoma.
