Lake Eufaula State Park is located on Lake Eufaula, which is a 102,000 acre reservoir.
The park used to be named Fountainhead State Park, and is located just south of Checotah. Visitors travel here for the hiking and mountain biking trails, the fun boating activities, and even a disc golf course.
There are seven lovely trails for you to choose from in the park.
All of them are rated easy, and none climb over 633 feet of elevation gain throughout the whole trail. With such an array of easily accessible choices, you’ll want to bring your whole family down to adventure.
One of the most popular trails in the Chinkapin Trail.
This is an easy out and back trail that brings you to the lake, and offers beautiful views. It’s a good 3.8 miles, but only 141 feet of elevation gain. This is a great hike that is very well maintained!

Check out the Savannah Loop, the Hummingbird, Crazy Snake, and Lakeshire North Loop, or the Arrow Maker Trail, which will take you through a dogwood grove.

The rest are much shorter, so it’s easy to hike a couple if you’re going to be in the area for the day. With hikes as short as .3 miles, you can bring even the littlest member of your family!
