One of the great things about living in Oklahoma is the vast culture available in different parts of the state. If you love artistic communities, then you have to visit the neighborhood – The Paseo Arts District within the Oklahoma City limits. It’s impossible not to love this area that is full of charm, character, history and tons of arts-related activities.
Check out this mecca for eccentric tastes in the Sooner State.
The Paseo Arts District was established in 1929 and is located along Paseo Drive at roughly N. Walker Ave and NW 28th Street in Oklahoma City.
The area looks like a little Spanish village, boasting beautiful stucco architecture with clay tile roofs. It's become known for its eclectic art galleries and shops.
The Paseo has over 70 chic restaurants, shops, bars, boutiques and art galleries. Each one is uniquely different and full of hidden treasures waiting to be discovered.
A great way to explore the district is at the First Friday Gallery Walk, held the first Friday and Saturday of each month. Many art galleries hold receptions and local restaurants and bars give discounts.
The Paseo Arts District is also home to the oldest church in Oklahoma - The Paseo Chapel. Check out the history of this remarkable building at 3000 North Lee Avenue.
