Oklahoma has an unlimited source of natural beauty – whether you’re looking at the majesty of the incredible tress, at the sky, or over the rolling hills. You’ll find that there’s something beautiful wherever you look. One of our favorite places is Deep Forest National Wildlife Refuge located just outside of Okmulgee. It’s a hidden gem most people don’t know about, so it’s never very crowded. We highly recommend you add it to your outdoor bucket list destination if you love the great outdoors.

The Deep Forest National Wildlife Refuge is just one of the numerous such refuges all over the Sooner State, as the map below shows.
This place is a sanctuary for bird watchers. Check out this gorgeous grey colored bird, the Mississippi Kite, a small falcon shaped bird of prey. Be on the lookout for them especially in the summer months.
Another unique aspect of the Deep Fork National Wildlife Refuge is the winding trails. These paths will lead you on incredible adventures throughout the nearly 10,000-acre piece of property.

You’ll meander through thick, lush foliage before reaching one of the tallest waterfalls in the state.
