Most People Don’t Know There’s A Cemetery Hiding Below This Popular Landmark In Oklahoma

Ready for a little Throwback Thursday? Did you know long before the BOK Center in Tulsa was a popular landmark filled with concerts, games and special events, it was a cemetery? Yep, it’s true! From 1882 until 1905, Oklahomans buried approximately 300 bodies in the cemetery located on the land where the current BOK center sits. Here’s a look back at what we know:

Do you know of anyone that was buried in this spot? A few names that officials can confirm that were originally buried here are Jeff Archer (a popular merchant), outlaw John Yockey and U.S. deputy marshals – William Moody and Frank Sennett.
