There’s No Other House In America Quite Like This One In Oklahoma
If you’ve ever driven down Charles Page Boulevard in Tulsa, Oklahoma and come across what looks to be the Flintstone’s house, then you’ll know you’ve found the Cave House. It’s one of the quirkiest buildings in Oklahoma (if not America) and it’s full of history, hauntings and hair-raising stories.
The home was originally built in the 1920s as Cave Garden Restaurant. It was a restaurant by day and a speakeasy at night. Secret tunnels led to a big room up under the hill out back that made for a great spot to keep the alcohol hidden during Prohibition.
The interior is uniquely decorated, paying homage to many past residents. These two minivan seats are in remembrance of mechanics that once lived there.
You'll find a key tree in the home in honor of the mysterious key woman - a previous owner whose spirit is said to haunt the home. She collected keys when she lived there and now visitors report their keys go missing and end up in the backyard.
The sunroom window is said to have one of the most bizarre occurrences in the home. Rags appear outside the window, over and over again, with no explanation.
It came to be known that a previous occupant, Ella, was a dumpster diver who wore cloths. She was known as the "rag woman" because she would wash her rags and hang them up on the outside of those same windows.
