The Black Mesa Trail Will Show You A Completely New Side Of Oklahoma
Oklahoma has countless hiking trails that pepper the state, each one more beautiful than the next. If you’re looking to stretch your legs and have an epic outdoor adventure, consider heading over to the Black Mesa State Park and Nature Preserve where you can hike to the highest point in Oklahoma, giving you a completely new view of our beautiful state. Let’s take a closer look.
Located in the panhandle along the tri-state border with Colorado and New Mexico, the Black Mesa State Park and Nature Preserve is nearly 1,600 acres of pure Oklahoman beauty.
You’ll want to give yourself about 3-4 hours to complete the hike, and be sure to bring enough water and sunscreen, as there’s little shade along the way.
If you get the opportunity, stick around the state park and preserve 'til night, when you’ll be welcomed with one of the most beautiful starry skies in the state (weather permitting, of course!)
