Columbus is full of metro parks and greenery, and there are several stunning spots within a couple hours drive that are well worth going to.

What area has the best caves and waterfalls?

Like Whispering Cave above, many other caves and waterfalls can be found in Hocking Hills State Park. Old Man Cave is perhaps the most popular and it's a short and easy hike through trees and rock formations that leads to a lovely cave with a waterfall. Families love to come here on summer weekends to get out of the heat and among the trees.

Ash Cave is another great hike and the cave and waterfall at the end of the trail draw the attention of many photographers. The tall trees and lovely rocks make this hike a pleasant and beautiful one. You can even dip your head under the waterfall if you want to. Birders, hikers, and nature enthusiasts of all kinds flock here to take in the views and get away from the noise of the city.

While not as popular as the others, Cedar Falls is one of the most stunning among them. Hike the Buckeye Trail over stairs and bridges through colorful rocks and towering trees and you'll end up in a bucolic little area with a babbling waterfall pouring into a serene pool. The rock formations in this area are quite intriguing.

For an extra treat, head down the road just a few miles from Hocking Hills to Conkle's Hollow and follow the Gorge Trail to yet another waterfall, especially after a rainfall to see it in its full glory. This whole area just about an hour from Columbus is a great way to spend a whole day on short, easy trails that each have a lovely reward at the end.
