Data is based on the percentage of families in the population that live below the poverty level. The U.S. Census Bureau determines poverty status based on income, household size and other factors. The following statistics are from the bureau’s 2010 American Community Survey, and the national poverty rate for all families was 10.1 percent as of 2010.
