14 Ways To Have The Most Ohio Day Ever
If you’re an Ohio native, you should be proud.
Here at Only In Your State, we think you should embrace your Ohio spirit with an Ohio themed day. The following are just 14 ways we’ve come up with to have the most Ohio day ever. While you’re probably not capable of doing every single thing all in one day, it’s worth a shot. (Or, you know, a weekend-long vacation.)
1. Grab some friends and Instagram/Facebook/Tweet a picture of this:
Embrace your ability to spell your state's name with your arms.
2. Yell "O-H!" as loud as you can everywhere you go...
....and wait for that guaranteed "I-O!" reply.
3. If you should happen to stumble across a Michigan fan, be sure to set them straight.
(Or, at least attempt to anyway. Some are too far gone. Remember: We can't save everyone from the borderline blasphemous yellow and blue loyalty.)
4. Drive through as many covered bridges as possible.
In case you hadn’t already noticed, Ohio is full of some of the most beautiful covered bridges. In fact, it almost has the most covered bridges in the U.S. (Pennsylvania actually has the most, followed by Ohio.)
5. Have lunch at the Buckeye Express Diner.
If you take exit 165 off of Interstate 71, you'll find this iconic not-your-average diner. (Note: Michigan fans must park across the street.) Buckeye Express Diner is located at 810 State Rt. 97 W., Bellville, OH 44813.
6. Eat as many of these as possible:
Buckeye candy is the best candy.
7. Tour one of our amazing museums.
Fine art, rock and roll, aviation, and pro football are just a few of the many subjects you can learn about via our impressive museums. Pictured is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
8. Experience Ohio Amish Country.
Ohio has the largest Amish population of any state in the nation, and exploring Ohio Amish Country is a must-do for everyone.
9. Walk to Scioto Mile.
No Ohio themed day (or weekend) is complete without a visit to the state capitol, and this beloved riverfront park is a unique way to take in the city.
10. Explore a state park.

Ohio is home to several beautiful state parks. Take your pick, pack a picnic lunch and chase waterfalls. (For a truly unique experience, we recommend Hocking Hills State Park, pictured above.)
11. Ride as many roller coasters as you can at the roller coaster capitol OF THE WORLD.
Cedar Point in Sandusky is the only amusement park in the world with four roller coasters taller than 200 feet.
12. Drive the back roads.
In between Ohio's cities, amusement parks and other attractions is some of the best country road scenery you'll ever take in. Don't miss it.
13. Have chili dogs for dinner.
Chili dogs are practically iconic in Ohio. Whether you prefer Tony Packo's, Skyline Chili or Netty's, you can't go wrong ordering a chili dog in Ohio.
14. Watch the sun set on Lake Eire.
It's our own special kind of ocean here—and the perfect way to end the day.
