The Extraordinary Ohio Park That’s Truly A Diamond In The Rough
Ohio is home to several underrated, beautiful parks that simply don’t get enough attention. Youngstown’s Mill Creek Park is one of those parks—in fact, it’s a diamond in the rough. Covering approximately 4,400 acres, it’s a true gem amid the hustle and bustle of the city.
It’s the last thing you’d expect to stumble upon in Youngstown, but if (or when) you do, you won’t want to leave. Check it out:
With more than 15 miles of hiking trails and other sights to see, there's plenty to do here. (Pictured is Lake Newport, the largest of the park's three lakes.)
The park also features several bridges, which local photographers love to photograph. Pictured is the Suspension Bridge, which is also referred to as "Fairy Tale Bridge" and the "Cinderella Bridge."
The Parapet Bridge is located on the east side of Lake Glacier and was built in the early 1900s. It's also referred to as the "Dragon Bridge" and the "Prehistoric Bridge."
Lanterman's Mill is a popular stop for visitors and locals alike. The mill itself dates back to the 1840s and the waterfall makes it a truly enchanting sight to behold.
All throughout Mill Creek Park, there are plenty of places to stop and take in all of the surrounding beautiful scenery. Pictured is Glacier Lake in the fall time.
Mill Creek Park is located at 2303 McCollum Rd., Youngstown, OH 44509. Have you ever been here before? Is so, share your photos and experiences with us!
