It’s finally February in Cleveland, which means paczki season is upon us. Paczki—also known as pączki or pączek—are a delicious type of filled donut that’s incredibly popular in Polish communities. These deep-fried desserts are often filled with jelly or cream, and we Clevelanders prefer them coated in oodles of powdered sugar, though they also come glazed with honey, icing, or orange zest. One Northeast Ohio bakery is famous for this delicious dessert, and they celebrate its legacy with an annual celebration that you won’t want to miss.
Kiedrowski's Simply Delicious Bakery, located at 2267 Cooper Foster Park Road in Amherst, is one of the area's premier paczki bakeries.
This Polish confectionery has served the area since 1984, bringing Old World flavor to an eclectic community. They were named the Best Bakery in America by The Baking Channel in 2011, and that's likely in part due to the popularity of their paczki. Sold for just $1.25 apiece or $14 for a dozen, locals can't help but indulge when paczki season arrives.
But just as popular as the pastries is the annual Paczki Ball, a family-friendly gathering and celebration.
This event is BYOB, and it's held each year before Fat Tuesday. It consists of a traditional Polish dinner and all the paczki you can eat in addition to killer polka music.

This year, the event takes place on February 24, 2019, at German’s Villa in Vermilion.
Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for children, and they're available only at Kiedrowski’s Bakery. Stock up on some paczki while you're in, because these are a treat you can't get enough of.
Delicacies at the buffet include sausage and sauerkraut, cabbage and noodles, potato and cheese pierogies, green beans with bacon, and sweet bread. Paczki will be available at each and every table.
From 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., attendees can dance, laugh, and fill up on paczki.
If you think about it, your ticket is equivalent to about two dozen paczki, so there's no shame in filling up on dessert here - it's truly the star of the show! This pre-Lenten celebration always sells out quick, so be sure to mark your calendar and buy your tickets ASAP.
The Presentation of the Paczki will have you feeling endlessly festive.
You'll witness the crowning of the Paczki Ball King and Queen (an honor unlike any other), and a sampling of a variety of paczki flavors. This event is a lot like a traditional Polish wedding, and it's a celebration the whole family is sure to love.
Get ready, because paczki season has finally arrived in The Land.
