Visit Dover Gardens Tavern, The Burger Joint Near Cleveland That’s Been Around Since 1876 Or So

What is the secret ingredient that makes a burger taste so darn good? Conventional wisdom would say that it’s love, but there may be some validity to the claim that history adds a bit of flavor. Westlake is a lovely community near Cleveland, and it’s home to an intriguing little tavern that may even be older than Cleveland’s oldest bar, historic Harbor Inn. Harbor Inn is widely considered to be one of the oldest in the region, but like Westlake’s tavern, it is surrounded in mystique.

Unfortunately, construction records were not kept in many areas following the Civil War. Why? Well, development in construction processes and the ease of transportation provided by railways meant construction was booming in the era. While we do not have a specific date to prove its age, Dover Gardens Tavern just may be the oldest bar in Greater Cleveland.
