The Underrated Cincinnati Park That Has An Adventure For Everyone
Cincinnati is very lucky to have an amazing parks system that provides us with natural beauty, right in the heart of the city. Some of these parks are well known and talked about, but others seem to quietly remain in the shadows, patiently waiting for visitors to discover their beauty. Mt. Airy Forest is one such park and this underrated natural oasis has an adventure for everyone.
Accessible from both Mt. Airy and Westwood, Mt. Airy Forest provides over 1,400 acres of adventure, right in the middle of an urban area. From the minute you enter the park, you'll forget you are in the city and start to seek out an adventure.
The grounds are diverse and lovely and include a number of ways to explore and relax. Strolling around the lake and gazebo, as well as a visit to the beautiful Arboretum are must-do activities.
Possibly the most recognizable feature of Mt. Airy Forest is Everybody's Treehouse. This welcoming structure, perched in the trees, is the only handicapped accessible treehouse in the state and is so much fun to explore.
The forest is also home to miles of hiking trails, lovingly maintained by volunteers, as well as horse trails if you'd like to experience Mt. Airy on horseback. The trails are some of the most-loved by avid hikers, but are great for families, too.
Mt. Airy Forest is beautiful year-round. You can take in the views while playing a game of disc golf, or bring a picnic and choose the best spot to relax.
Cincinnati Parks is a city treasure that gives us all ways to reconnect with nature and escape everyday life. Mt. Airy Forest is a valued member of this family, and you'll love the adventure you find at this one-of-a-kind park.
