The One Restaurant Near Cincinnati That’s Worth Crossing The River For
Maybe it’s the traffic, maybe it’s the overwhelming love for all things Cincinnati, or maybe it’s simply the fear of the unknown. For some reason Cincinnatians tend to stay on their side of the river. There are plenty of wonderful restaurants within the city limits, but it’s good for everyone to venture out from time to time. And you won’t have to go far to check out this beautifully restored restaurant in Covington. Coppin’s at Hotel Covington has the most unforgettable ambiance and menu; it’s worth crossing the river for.
Just across the river from Cincinnati, Covington is a vibrant community that is filled with historic buildings, lively entertainment, and fantastic eateries. The jewel of the city is Hotel Covington and its signature restaurant, Coppin's.
Coppin's location in Northern Kentucky has inspired its atmosphere and menu. The restaurant is relaxed, yet lovely and the menu gives nods to both the North and the South.
Coppin's is quite possibly the most beautiful restaurant in the area. You won't be able to stop taking in the atmosphere as you dine.
The atrium is the ideal spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and becomes even more magical as the day goes on. It's spacious- but also warm, rustic, but modern.
The outdoor patio is also a unique feature, and perfect for a drink on a nice day. The combination of modern furnishings and the vintage brick buildings is utterly charming and inviting.
Of course if we're going to send you "all the way" across the river, the restaurant better have unbelievable food. Coppin's delivers just that for every meal of the day.
Breakfast and brunch are highlights of Coppin's and feature classics like pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and their unique take on eggs benedict. Don't forget to order a Bloody Mary to accompany your morning (or afternoon) meal. Breakfast is served on Saturday and Sunday from 6:30am to 11am and brunch is also served on the weekends from 11am to 2pm.
Lunch and dinner are just as fabulous, so be prepared to head to Covington more than once. Or you can just hang out all day and go back for round two!
Coppin's lunch and dinner menu is reminiscent of gastropub fare and includes standouts like the Coppin's Burger (with bacon marmalade!), the Ham Biscuit, and Hanger Steak. The menu is innovative but not overwhelming, and the staff will happily help you with your decision.
The bar at Coppin's is extensive and also filled with local nostalgia. One of their specialties, Liquid Knowledge, is served in a Rookwood Pottery mug, and there is also a wide variety of locally crafted beer and wine.
If you happen to be in Covington late in the evening, you don't have to miss out on trying Coppin's. Their walk-up window is open Thursday - Saturday 10pm to 2am.
This is no fast food style window! You can choose from a select menu that varies, but expect delicious options like the Cubano sandwich and Churros with chocolate dipping sauce, pictured above. No matter when you decide to visit Coppin's, know that you'll be pleased with your decision to cross the river and experience Covington and all it offers.
