If you like the idea of a fall day trip from Cincinnati, consider heading south to Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill. Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill is a historic destination in Kentucky, less than two hours from Cincinnati.
It's located in Harrodsburg, the oldest city in the state, and is filled with history itself. It makes for a great day trip or weekend getaway from Cincinnati for learning, relaxing, and taking in the natural beauty of this area.
There are many things to do in Shaker Village and one of the must-try experiences is a ride on the Dixie Belle.
This charming 115-passenger paddlewheel is a wonderful way to learn about and experience the area. It's appropriate for all ages and is a fun add-on to a visit here.

A ride on the Dixie Belle in the fall is especially lovely as it tends to get into the spirit of the season.
Your one-hour cruise will give you time to sit back and relax and learn the history of this river and the area. It's actually quite fascinating and the scenery is stunning.
You'll cruise past rock formations that are between 400 and 500 million years old! As a fall day trip from Cincinnati, it doesn't get any better than this.
