5 Magical Places Around Cincinnati Where You Can Walk Amongst The Sunflowers

Whenever this time of year rolls around, you’re likely to see a few sunflowers pop up as you drive around town. Perhaps on small farms, in a neighbor’s yard, or even on your property, these beautiful flowers are a favorite of many. But if you want the unique experience of walking amongst the sunflower fields in Cincinnati, then we have 5 places for you to visit. Some of these are very close to home and a couple require a bit of a drive, but you’ll love these magical places around the Queen City.

Facebook/Gorman Heritage Farm

Gorman Heritage Farm is definitely the best spot within city limits to visit a sunflower field. This historic farm is open year-round for a wide range of activities, tours, and events, but its Sunflower Festival is extremely popular. Mark your calendar now for October 5th and 6th and plan a visit to see the flowers, take lots of photos, and stroll through vendors and other activities on the farm. Cottell Park is a popular park in Mason for all sorts of outdoor recreation. But this time of year, it gets a lot of attention for its beautiful sunflower fields. These beauties should be in bloom anytime now (they typically bloom mid to late July) and you are free to roam through the field (respectfully, of course), take pictures, and enjoy these favorite summertime flowers. Blooms and Berries Farm Market in Loveland also hosts a number of events and U-pick activities throughout the year. Their fall gathering is very popular and the sunflower field is a must-see. They expect the field to be in bloom around September 21st, but of course that could vary slightly. Follow along with the farm here for all of the up-to-date information.

These last two destinations are a bit of a drive, but definitely worth it. Kalon's Korner is located in Nicholasville, just outside of Lexington. This is a family farm in the heart of the beautiful Kentucky countryside, so make a day of it and take the back roads to get there. They are hosting various events where you can walk around their lovely fields, so be sure to check for dates and times of those before planning a visit. Learn more and see more of the farm here.

One last spot that typically offers one of the most scenic sunflower fields in Ohio is the Tecumseh Land Trust in Yellow Springs. This non-profit works hard to preserve land and historic sites and works with the community to do so. They also plant an incredible sunflower field each year, as shown above. Please keep in mind that with the weather this year, the field may be impacted.
