The Winter Coaster In Northern California That Will Take You Through A Snowy Mountain Wonderland
Winters in Northern California bring on all sorts of amazing opportunities for enjoying the outdoors, and we’re not just talking about skiing and snowboarding. There are many ways to explore the snowy landscapes this season, but this winter coaster may just be the most unique of them all. Ride through the snow-covered mountaintops on this one-of-a-kind ride for a thrill you won’t soon forget. To top it all off, you’ll enjoy the best view of Lake Tahoe in the distance as you soar through the trees. Sounds pretty dreamy right? Turn this dream into reality and make riding on Northern California’s winter coaster a priority this season.
South Lake Tahoe's Heavenly Mountain Resort is a wonderland of winter recreation. Skiing and snowboarding may be what it's most popular for, but the mountain is home to all kinds of unique ways to play in the snow.
Boasting everything from
snow tubing to scenic gondola rides, Heavenly Mountain definitely isn't short on things to keep you busy this winter. However, one of the most exciting features of this beloved resort is the Ridge Rider Mountain Coaster.
Heavenly's Ridge Rider is a relatively recent addition to the mountain. First opened in June 2016, the gravity-powered mountain coaster has quickly become one of the most iconic summer activities that Heavenly has to offer. However, riding the coaster during wintertime is an entirely new experience!
This unique alpine coaster is one of the most exhilarating ways to take in the breathtaking winter scenery. As the coaster leads you through the forest and natural rock formations, you'll be treated to the most outstanding views of both the surrounding mountains and Lake Tahoe.
The coaster itself can accommodate two riders, so you can bring a friend or loved one to enjoy the ride with you. However, the "driver" of the coaster must be at least 16 years old and be a minimum of 54-inches tall.
During the ride, you'll accelerate around boulders, through the trees, and around two lateral loops. It makes for an experience that is thrilling but easygoing enough for you to enjoy the ride from beginning to end. Even if you're not a fan of roller coasters, you'll find that this mountain coaster is a completely different experience.
The Ridge Rider Mountain Coaster is a must for Heavenly visitors this winter season. An all-day pass costs $45 and a single ride costs $30. You can learn more about the winter activities at Heavenly Mountain and purchase your coaster tickets
